This Privacy Policy explains how Martijn Courteaux (“I,” “me,” or “my”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you visit my website or use the SilverNode desktop application (“the Software”).
I believe in data minimization: I only collect what is strictly necessary to run my business, validate your license, and provide support.
A. When you visit my website
I use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with my website. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect anonymous usage data (such as pages visited and time spent on the site). This helps me improve my website. I do not use this data to identify you personally. For more information, please refer to the Cookie Policy.
B. When you purchase a license
I use Lemon Squeezy as my payment provider and Merchant of Record. When you make a purchase, your transaction is processed directly by them on their hosted checkout page. Lemon Squeezy uses cookies to process payments and manages all of your billing data securely.
I do not see, collect, or store your credit card or payment details. From Lemon Squeezy, I only receive and store:
- Your full name
- Your email address
- Your country of residence
- Your purchase history and license keys
I use this information solely to deliver your software license, provide customer support, and track your purchase status.
C. When you use SilverNode (The Software)
SilverNode is designed to respect your privacy. It does not track your workflow, collect your photos, or send telemetry data.
- License Validation: To enforce the 5-device limit per license, the Software periodically contacts my licensing server. It sends your license key and an anonymized, hashed device identifier to verify your license status. No personal data is attached to this device identifier.
- Configuration Files: SilverNode stores configuration files locally on your system to maintain your settings across sessions. These files are never sent to me or shared.
- Crash Dumps and Logs: If SilverNode crashes, it may produce a local crash dump or log file on your machine. These files are never sent to me automatically. It is entirely your choice whether to manually share these files with me to help fix bugs.
2. Third-Party Services
To operate my software and business, I rely on the following third-party services:
- Lemon Squeezy: Acts as my Merchant of Record, manages your subscriptions, and handles my email newsletters/updates. You can view their privacy policy at lemonsqueezy.com/privacy. You can manage your purchases and subscriptions at any time using the Lemon Squeezy Customer Portal.
- Google Analytics: Used for basic website traffic analysis.
- Discord: If you choose to join my community Discord server to report bugs, share logs, screenshots, or screen recordings, any information you share voluntarily is governed by Discord’s Privacy Policy.
3. Data Retention
- Customer & License Data: I retain the customer data provided to me by Lemon Squeezy for as long as you have an active license or account with me, as required to provide you with the Software and for legal/tax accounting purposes.
- Crash Reports and Logs: If you voluntarily send me a crash report or log file, I keep it only temporarily to investigate and resolve the issue. Once the bug is fixed, the file is deleted from my systems.
4. Data Security
I take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While I strive to protect your information, I cannot guarantee its absolute security.
5. Your Privacy Rights
As a resident of the European Union, you have specific rights regarding your personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Access and Correction: You can access and manage your purchase history and subscriptions via the Lemon Squeezy Customer Portal.
- Opting Out of Communications: If you wish to be removed from my mailing list (for project updates or newsletters), you can click the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of my emails or contact me directly.
- Deletion of Crash Reports: If you have shared crash reports, screenshots, or log files with me via Discord or email, you can contact me at any time to request their immediate deletion.
- Right to Erasure: You have the right to request that I delete your personal data from my licensing servers. Please note that deleting your data will revoke your license to use the Software.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, wish to exercise your data rights, or need support, please contact me at: support@silvernode.io
